Department of Journalism & Mass Communication proudly organizes its annual departmental co-curricular activities program Vox-Pop since 2017. The program organized by the students and faculty of the department involves all faculty and staff of the college in various roles. The program is an annual one-day event which provides a platform for the students to showcase their creativity, intellectual ability, team spirit, organizational abilities and healthy competitive camaraderie.

Vox-pop starts with the invited lectures from various young industry professionals. The industry talks and seminars are one of the prime attractions of the program. This provides the opportunity to the students for industry interaction to understand how to prepare themselves for professional career. The department has invited many renowned experts from various fields like newspaper reporter, photojournalist, photographer, short film maker, theatre director, online journalist, documentary film-maker, radio jockey and many more.

The program also includes activities of various departmental societies like Film Club, Photography Club, Debate Club and Creative Writing Club. Annual photo competition Shutterbugs Spark starts month before the day of the event and the photos on particular themes are exhibited as part of the program. Award winning documentary films and films made by the alumni of the department are screened along with interaction session with the alumni film-makers. Debate competition, impromptu performances, quiz competitions are organized. Also essay writing competition, poster competitions are held. Wall magazines are published. Students of each batch develop original scripts for skit competition on a social issue which they stage on the day of the event after rigorous rehearsals. The event ends with the prize distribution ceremony followed by the cultural program organized by each batch of the students.

The 2020 edition of Vox-pop was held online for the first time due to pandemic situation where the students presented a virtual photo exhibition, participated in online quiz competition, debate competition, impromptu performances and audio skit competition - all in virtual platforms. Sri Sushovan Sircar, Senior Correspondent of The Quint delivered a lecture on online journalism and online news-media in this first ever online Vox-pop of the department.
